Wow, I feel as if I have abandoned you since my last post, but that will never be the case.
Things have just been crazy here in SB XLVII Halftime Show land. We - some more than others - have been laboring since early August on this show.
As time passed, as it always will, the people in the shops who fabricate the custom stage were getting a little antsy to start cutting some aluminum and building the various pieces.
Still the changes came.
At last, the show design has been completed, agreed to by all parties and work on the stage began in earnest two weeks ago.
In addition to the physical work, (now non-stop, even over the holidays to meet the shipping deadline) the administrative load of a show this size defies imagination. Constant budget updates and revisions. Broadcast Trucks (not cheap), Travel, Hotels, Catering, Credentials, Office Trailers, on and on and ON for literally hundreds of staff and crew. There are people who do that work. They've been occupied with the Show for sometime now.
All for that 12 minutes of Magic...that we (you, us and Beyonce') will deliver from the center of the Super Bowl XLVII field in the Mercedes- Benz Superdome at Halftime, Sunday February 3, 2013
I've seen the drawings of the stage and are we in for it! Better lace up your sneaks on this one. It should be astounding and we haven't even heard the music yet.
Day after tomorrow, Bryan, Holly and I will wing our respective ways to MSY for the infamous Volunteer Orientation, details of which can be found at www.superbowlproductions.com (I'm not even sure where it is, but am certain that Bryan and Holly do. They will get me there.)
If you are an in-town Volunteer or one of our traveling returning warriors who is already in town, please try to attend. (Out of town returning Volunteers are welcome, but their attendance at the Volunteer Orientation is not required.)
Then, 10 days or so after the Volunteer Orientation, the Circus comes to town.
In the week before we see you for our first rehearsal on the 21st, the stage pieces, fabricated in Torrance, CA, will have travelled across the Continent to New Orleans in multiple 53' air-ride tractor trailer rigs to be delivered, re-assembled and made ready.
About the same time, lighting, sound, video, led screens, pyro; all manner of tricks, wonderments and enchanting characters will also arrive. The equipment, to be installed into the stage itself and the characters to supervise each department, as they meld their part of the show around, above and into the stage.
(NOTE: This is NOT - repeat - NOT any work you will be doing as a Volunteer! These tasks happen during the day and are performed by skilled technicians and qualified stagehands. We have something special for you.)
Looking forward to being in New Orleans with you for an UN-forgetable experience.
The tempo increases...
REPORT: DESTINY’S CHILD TO PERFORM AT THE SUPER BOWL
Beyoncé won’t be the only member of Destiny’s Child on stage at Super Bowl XLVII next month. Her DC groupmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams will also reportedly join her during the halftime show.
Multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that the R&B trio will reunite during Beyoncé’s much-anticipated performance at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on February 3.
Beyoncé will open the show solo, bringing out Kelly and Michelle midway into her set for a brief medley of the group’s greatest hits, ending with their new song “Nuclear.” The Pharrell-produced track, their first original material since 2004, appears on their career-spanning compilation Love Songs, due January 29.
Beyoncé will take the field again for the finale, which is said to include the debut of a track off her upcoming fifth album.
