Beyonce Opens Up About Jay-Z, Powers Through Hits in New DVD Set

Beyonce invited a handful of media outlets to catch an early screening of her Live at Roseland: The Elements of 4 documentary on Monday, and ABC News Radio was among the press folks who got a a sneak peek of the upcoming release. We won’t give away too many details, but here’s one thing that caught our eye early on: a cameo by Jay-Z, who opens the blinds as Bey wakes and the film begins. There are quite a few flashes of Mr. Carter in the film’s behind-the-scenes footage, which includes shots of the usually private couple on vacation overseas, dancing together at Bey’s birthday party and embracing backstage at Roseland.

For fans who snag the concert DVD in hopes of reliving one of Bey’s four intimate shows at Roseland, the 26-song set offers plenty performance material. Beyonce dusts off hits from her Destiny’s Child days, and recalls for the crowd how the group’s hit “Bills, Bills, Bills” led to criticisms that they were gold-diggers. It later inspired Bey to write “Independent Women,” which she performs. She later powers her way through 4, and gives a moving rendition of her single “1 + 1” from atop a piano. The feat is all the more impressive now that we know Beyonce was pregnant at the time.

Fans can get their hands on Beyonce’s Live at Roseland concert DVD on November 21. They’ll have to wait a little longer for her two-disc set Live at Roseland: The Elements of 4 deluxe package — which includes the documentary. That won’t hit shelves until November 29.

Yesterday (Nov. 7), Sony Music hosted two screenings, just at different times (10 am and 12 am) for Beyoncé's 'Live at Roseland' DVD at Sony's NYC offices.

Sony's publicists' Winnie Lam and Mike Navarra kindly greeted and walked in attendees into Sony's theatre which included Rolling Stone, CNN Piers Morgan, Essence, Reuters, Concrete Loop's Angel Laws, Ebony's Kierna Mayo and Billboard.biz.

Beyoncé's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure of Parkwood Entertainment, shared a few words before cueing play, saying the DVD was a "labor of love" and was directed, edited and produced by Beyoncé, herself. Beyoncé's concert DVD was directed by Beyoncé, Ed Burke and Anthony Green and executive produced by Beyoncé for Parkwood Entertainment, in association with Colombia Records.

'Live At Roseland,' due Nov. 21 exclusively at Walmart, will give fans an "up close and personal" look at Beyoncé. The 26-song live DVD documents Bey's four nights at the Roseland Ballroom in August, "4 Intimate Nights with Beyoncé." The DVD, played earlier today, included the complete Roseland concert series and never before seen personal footage from Bey.' Bey' shares footage of her times with Destiny's Child, traveling and partying with family, the much talked about American Idol "1+1" rehearsal clip, shot by husband Jay-Z, other performances and even a sneak peak at Beyoncé's wedding dress.

On Nov. 29, Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records plan to release a deluxe version of DVD titled, 'Live At Roseland: The Elements of 4," which is a two-disc DVD that will include complete concert footage, bonus offstage footage, a 20-page booklet and a video anthology that includes seven videos from her Billboard 200 No.1 album, "4."

As of now, Beyoncé has debuted six videos from "4"-- three in the month of Oct., ten days apart ("Countdown'" (Oct. 6), "Love on Top" (Oct. 16) and "Party" (Oct. 26), which means we should be expecting one more video from "4" before the deluxe version release date, Nov. 27. A source tells Billboard that the seventh video, also said to not be "End of Time," will debut on Nov. 27th, two days before the deluxe release date.
